Every day we have been keeping track of all the visitors and like it says in the title we got 400 Visitors in 1 day! We checked on the 20th of January and we were astonished. We hope that on a future date we have even more visitors viewing our website.
Today Ms Holmes added the Bug Hotel on the school website as a report. We would like to thank her for that. Also Ms Holmes has sent our website link to Green schools Ireland. If you want to see the School website click the button below as always.
Big thanks today to Mr.Marken's first class boys who became the first boys to enter the colouring competition. All the boys worked very hard and their pictures are now available to view in the gallery. The gallery button like last time it is down below.
Today is a historic day, because like it says in the title we have had our first visitor to the bug hotel other than Benny. Called Wendy the Worm she was seen entering the bug hotel at 1:40pm and was found by Mr. Minnock. To see pictures of Wendy click on the gallery button below.
Also the travel rater AKA Alvin in Ms Holmes's class came to have a look at the hotel. We gave him a tour and he rated it 5 stars. He said it was very big and well full up with materials. Today on the 17th of January 2014 we have received the first of our many story's to come to the website by Ibraham in third in MR. Curtins class. We have posted his story on the story's page. We will be expecting more in future. Thanks and well done to Mr Curtin and all the boys who are working very hard writing their Benny the Bug stories.
For the past two days Mr.Minnock and I have visited senior classes explaining about the bug hotel, the website and last of all Benny the Bug. They seem to be very interested in all of these things and their teachers are going to send them home soon with the competitions sheet.
Plus we are going to try to go to junior and senior infants to explain about the coloring competitions the website and Benny as simply as possible over the next couple of days. Benny the Bug has got a double bill of competitions for you! Today Benny launched his coloring competition for junior classes and a story writing competition for senior classes. Details can be found in the competition section of the website!
On the 6th of January 2014 we returned to the bug hotel.
Because of all the storms and Gales, we thought it was knocked down. We looked at it. Not even a single scratch was on it nor dent nor bump. Only a nearby branch fell on top of the strong hotel. We will be using the very same branch for our Bug Hotel in future. And we weren’t getting any bugs to the Hotel because of all the cold weather. Fortunately, spring is up on the horizon so many, many insects are coming back to Ireland and hopefully visit the Bug Hotel. In late November early December we began to gather materials for the Bug hotel. Mr.Moyles gave us the pallets with such generosity. We checked the school environment for suitable materials
We found the following materials bamboo sticks, regular sticks, turf, logs of wood, dead wood, pallets, slates, slabs, stone, straws, poles and finally, tons and tons of Elbow grease. We gathered them and put them all into 1 wheelbarrow stacked them and we had two classes of boys to see the Bug hotel being built. |
