THE BUG HOTEL
This year 4th class teacher Ms Holmes, learning support teacher Mr Minnock and other teachers are aiming for our 5th green schools flag. In order to get the flag we need to do one thing: learn about biodiversity. Biodiversity is the study of a wide variety of living things in an area.
One day Mr Minnock and I thought, “Birds eat bugs right? If we make a hotel for the bugs birds can eat the bugs”. We decided there and then to build one and we know they will come!! The bug hotel is underway and will be finished in 2014 hopefully.
We decided to make it from pallets and fill the inside with material to attract the bugs and make it no more than 5 pallets high. Mr. Moyles gave us the pallets for the project.
You can see the bug hotel itself on the field near an overgrown hedge. More information about how we built the hotel and how we decided where to locate it can be found on the Blog pages of this website.
